Ep 102 Two vital [and surprising] things your business needs to be able to scale as a women entrepreneur

with Lani Jackson

Ready for something that’s not talked about enough? When it comes to us as women entrepreneurs, especially moms who are trying to grow and scale a business. There are two things that I believe are necessary and vital and… surprising to grow your business.

They’re not talked about very often. They are not paid attention to because they don’t seem like THE strategy. They’re not the sexy strategy that’s going on around here. They’re not the algorithm beating thing. And I think that’s a shame because knowing these two things and feeling good and confident in these two things are going to give you so much more growth and foundation for your business to be able to scale them and help with anything else you do in your business.

Spaghetti at the wall is a great way to start a business. But spaghetti at the wall is not a sustainable, confident inducing plan.

Come into your business with a plan. So check yourself. Do I feel confident in my plan?

Discussed in this Episode...

Listen as Lani shares:

You need to have SECURITY

  • We need security in our homes
    • Knowing we are safe and secure gives us stability
    • Without the feeling of safety
      • A lot of our energy is taken
      • We are shaken internally
      • Makes us unable to
        • Really lean into our strategy
        • Vision cast

Build security into your business

  • Security is
    • Feeling free from danger
    • Having a guarantee that something will or will not happen
  • As women we have a deep need to feel safe and secure
    • When we don’t feel safe and secure
      • We scramble to put up barriers for self protection
      • We put up unnecessary boundaries and barriers
        • Because we’re unsure of the next steps
    • Sometimes being insecure is just due to false perceptions of a situation
      • We overthink some of the needs that we might have

How do we bring security into our business?

  • Ask yourself: What is the income
    • That you need to feel secure?
    • That you need to be hitting in order to make you feel safe?
      • How do you make that repeatable and predictable?
      • How can I make sure that I can predict that income over and over again?

Knowing the plan will give us confidence in our security

  • Without a plan for your business
    • You have insecurity
    • Leads to putting up barriers for self protection
    • Causes you to not take those risks to put yourself out there
    • You will have nervous energy that translates to the content you are putting out

Have confidence in the plan

  • Trust yourself in the ability to trust the problem
  • Security comes from
    • Being able to say I can trust myself and my ability to execute the plan
    • Looking back at everything you’ve already accomplished
    • Looking at what you do on a regular basis
  • If you don’t have security
    • The growth and the scaling that you do have will crumble quickly
    • You will start to self sabotage
    • You will put up barriers
    • You’ll say, “No”
    • You stop doing the things you know you should be doing

We need SUPPORT s a mom and as an entrepreneur

  • Support means give assistance or bear the weight of something
  • We’re not supposed to do it alone
  • It takes a village, that community
  • Have a support system
  • Without a support system we feel
    • Alone
    • Exhausted
    • Pain
    • Struggle
  • With a support group you can
    • Get suggestions from them
    • Find friendship
    • Find community
    • Get advise
    • Share stories
  • Get support for your business like you would for yourself as a mom
    • We can’t cut off the women’s side of us
    • What kind of support do you need for your business?

There are three types of support

  • Community
  • Mentorship
  • Delegated

Community support looks like

  • Your business besties
  • You networking other communities
    • Like the Brilliant Mompreneur Society
      • You could go in that group anytime
      • You could say:
        • Hey guys, I’m struggling with this…
        • Or I need a resource for this…
      • People will jump in and offer
        • Value
        • Advice
  • You need to get better relationships going with other people
    • You want to be able to talk to people who
      • Understand the business side of things
      • Can relate to what you are going through
      • Can help by
        • Giving advice
        • Cheer you on
        • Exchange ideas
        • Collaborate

Mentorship support looks like

  • Someone who
    • Has went ahead of you
    • Isn’t exactly on the same walk of life you are
    • Can give you advice
    • Can teach you things
    • Will share their mistakes
  • It can be a
    • Business coach
    • Someone you listen to their podcast
    • Where can you find mentorship?

Delegated support looks like

  • You saying, “I am asking you for support and I’m going to hire you to do it.”
  • We have to be purposeful with the support we need
    • What do you need first
      • The first thing I did was hire a cleaner for my house
  • Look at the things that don’t have to be done by you
    • Laundry
    • Cleaning the house
    • Scheduling posts
  • Where can you delegate support?
    • Hire people to do these tasks

Look at SECURITY and SUPPORT in your business

  • Are they where they should be?
  • Are they strong?
  • Is it foundationally laid?
  • Do you need more security in your business?
    • How do you bring that in?
  • Do you need more support in your business?
    • How do you bring that in?
