Ep. 98 Why you aren't landing clients, getting leads, or expanding your audience

with Lani Jackson

Are you frustrated because you’re not getting enough good leads? Is your audience too small? Why are you not landing new clients?

Let’s talk about it.

Why aren’t we getting these finds? Why aren’t we getting these leads? Why aren’t we expanding our audience?

The thing is, there are hundreds of thousands and millions of people online. If your business is online, we should be getting new people.

I see you and I understand how frustrating it is that you are spending your time on social media and building your business and doing all the things and it’s not converting. So let’s dive into why.

“Even though they need it, it might not be what they want or what they care about.

So make sure your messaging is talking about what they care about and what they actually want.”

Discussed in this Episode...

Listen as Lani shares:

There are four reasons why I’m not generating leads or growing my audience

#1 Am I showing up enough?

  • Are you actually spending time showing up?
    • Or does it just feel like it because
      • You spent a lot of time thinking about content
      • You did a lot of scrolling
      • You may be overthinking
  • Are you actively promoting yourself?
  • Where have you been showing up?
    • Are you showing up every day?
    • In other communities?
    • Have you exposed your brand?
    • Have you been offering to people?
  • Are you just backdoor talking?
    • Are you sharing a story but no call to action?
    • Are you engaging in a group but asking questions that have nothing to do with what you have to offer?
  • Go back to the data
    • How many times did you post in the last weeks?
    • Ask yourself: Did I even promote myself?
    • Did it get buried and no one saw it?

#2 Maybe I’m not using the messaging that matters

  • Is your messaging converting?
  • Is your messaging specific enough?
  • Can your audience picture themselves in the scenarios you are describing?
    • Be specific
    • Give details
    • Go deeper
  • Are you talking about things your audience doesn’t really care about?
    • Somethings that are important are not neccesssisaely things they want to hear about
  • Are you showing up in the wrong places?
    • Don’t go to a group about making friends and promote yourself
      • It’s not going to convert in that group
    • Be in the right group
    • Align with your audience

#3 Are you following up?

  • Are you starting new conversations but moving on too quickly?
  • Do you find it’s not converting so you dismiss it?
    • You’re leaving money on the table if you aren’t following up
  • Are you checking in?
    • Are you following up?
    • Are you showing that you really are invested in what you say you are?
  • Do you have a system to nurture your leads?
    • Do you have a follow up system?
    • Do you ever ask if you can take your conversations to the DMs?
    • Do you ever ask them if they want to be added to your email list?

#4 Are there things that you can’t see that are happening?

  • Things don’t always happen super fast
  • There are things happening behind the scenes that we don’t see
  • It’s possible that there are people who are seeing all that you are putting out there who
    • Has never commented on a post
    • You don’t know their name
    • Has never shared your podcast
    • Has never sent you a message
    • One day becomes a client, or buys what you are offering
