Those are all good questions! So in today’s episode, we’re going to talk about when you should and when you shouldn’t pivot, update, rebrand, re-strategize your business.

“Re-strategizing without data is just chasing shiny object.”

Discussed in this Episode...

Listen as Lani shares:

Why you should and shouldn’t rebrand

  • Why you shouldn’t rebrand
    • You should be slow to
      • Rebrand
      • Pivot
      • Re-strategize
    • Often times we are chasing shiny objects
      • When things don’t work out, we throw in the towel
      • It’s discouraging when things don’t work out right away

  • Why you might be tempted to rebrand
    • The online world gives us the impression that
      • Things are immediate
      • You will go viral
      • You’re going to make millions in 30 days
      • Extreme results
      • You can have overnight success

  •  Rebranding
    • Is not a $10,000 action
    • It’s a 10 cent action
    • It’s not a make or break
      • You can have ‘not great’ branding
        • That just imitates Canva stuff
          • And still be making a lot of money
      • You can have beautiful branding
        • With amazing, perfect pictures
        • Studio quality
        • Magazine quality
          • And make $0
    • Don’t let the image of having to be perfect, lie to you
      • Don’t get distracted by the rebrand
      • It will not give you an instant return on your investment

  • Rebranding, re-strategizing, updating, pivoting without data
    • Is just chasing shiny objects
      • And is the reason why you shouldn’t

  • Why you should rebrand
    • You should consider
      • Rebranding
      • Updating
      • Pivoting
      • Re-strategizing
        • When you have ______ that you want to change in place for 3 or more months (preferably 6 to 12 months).
          • Done that action
          • Had that thing

  • Having that action/thing in place for that amount of time is
    • How long it takes to track results
      • To determine if it is working or not

  • What is the data
    • You need to go off of the data over drama to say
      • Is this working
      • Is this not working
    • Evaluate the data
    • Not the drama of emotions that you’re feeling when it comes to
      • Things that you want to update
    • Make sure you’re not chasing the newest thing

  • Have clear intentions
    • Evaluate what isn’t working
      • But don’t change it without having
        • A clear vision
        • Intention of what you want
          • For example:
            • Are you just wanting more followers and listeners?
            • Are you wanting people to take action?
            • Are you wanting more subscribers?
            • What are you wanting from this thing?

  • Your rebrand and pivot reflects your long term commitment to growth
    • We can not predict changes will help in our long term growth if we are
      • Making quick pivots
      • Constantly changing
      • Rebranding without having real intentions
      • Flying off the seat of our pants
      • Trying new things constantly
    • Be aware of the changes you decide to make
      • Commit to doing it for more than 3 months
      • Be able to know if it worked
      • Know if it is making an impact
      • Make sure you can commit to it long term
        • Do you actually want to be doing the new ‘thing’

  • If you have been thinking about rebranding ask yourself these questions:
    • Have I been doing it long enough
    • What are my intentions
    • Have I read the data
      • What is the data telling me
      • What are my feelings telling me
      • Is something true or not true based on the data
    • Are you going to commit to the change
      • Can you commit to 3 to 6 months or longer
