Ep. 93 5 Effective tools for a successful business
with Lani Jackson
Hey BRILLIANT mamas!
The right tools can take hours of work off your plate and help you run your business smoothly. In today’s episode, I’m sharing 5 tools that I use every single day in my business! (You just may be surprised about #2!)
“If you’ve not set up a calendar yet for your business, do it! And don’t forget to block off time for your family.
Don’t forget to block off days for CEO time where you’re just working in your business instead of working on your business and all of those things.”
Discussed in this Episode...
Listen as Lani shares:
1. Trello!
Of course the first one is Trello! If you’ve been around me for any length of time you know about my love of Trello. I am on my Trello boards every day, and I love that there is an app for my desktop, phone or my iPad.
Trello is a project management system that allows you to stay organized! It replaced my day planner, keeps track of my content, keeps track of my clients, it keeps track of marketing materials and so many more things!
2. Google Calendar
I live by my Google Calendar! I make sure that it is up to date with when I am going to be taking time off with the kids, when I have appointments for my clients, when I’m recording podcasts, or even I’m going to work on a big project. It’s really keeps me on track with what my plan is for the day, who I’m talking to, and how much time I have in between for client work. I know it’s “just” Google Calendar, but again, the simplest tools can make all the difference.
3. Canva
If you’re not on the Canva train, get on the Canva train! It’s a graphics creation tool that has a lot of free capabilities! If you want to unlock all the templates, fonts, and other perks, it’s worth the upgrade to Canva Pro. It’s super user friendly! Whether you’re making a printable, creating a social media graphic, or making a logo; all of it can be done in Canva.
4. Dubsado
Dubsado is a client management system. This a fantastic tool that helps me with scheduling discovery calls for potential new clients, managing invoices, client communication, and so many more things. If you don’t have a client management system yet, you’ll be surprised what a difference the investment can make. Dubsado replaced four different programs that I was using, and really has simplified my systems and processes. So if for instance, if we ever have a family emergency, I literally could jump into Dubsado and send out an emergency broadcast to all of my clients letting them know I will not be able to make the next three days of appointments. It makes giving them the option to reschedule super easy! It also automatically sends out invoice reminders which prevents me from having to worry about bugging people to pay their invoices or whatever the case might be. A good Client Management System is worth the investment!!
5. Mailerlite
Mailerlite is my email management system! If you go to my website and sign up for a free class or something, or maybe you join the Facebook group; you get added to groups in my mailer light application, and then you’re put into email sequences.
I am able to send you a welcome sequence when you join my Facebook group that welcomes you to the group and then makes an offer to you and tells you what I’m all about. Because it’s all set up in Mailerlite, I don’t have to manually send out those emails, it does it automatically for me. And every week, when you’re on my list, you get an email from me with an update, or the fact that I’m participating in some fun event and want you to join in, or there’s a new resource I want you to know about, or maybe some inspiration that I want to pass on, or a call to action.
Mailer light helps me keep up consistent communication!
