- Because business and success is not one-size-fits-all!

Hey BRILLIANT mamas! Today’s guest is Monica Froese; coach for digital product business owners and host of the popular podcast, Empowered Business. She shares her incredible journey from corporate life, to direct sales, to Blogger, to business coach. We really dive into the importance of defining what success means to you, how to set up systems that work for YOU and your family, the need for creating healthy boundaries in work and at home, and so much more!

"The mom guilt was so prevalent in the first two years of parenting for me. I don't even really know it sparked it, but I woke up one day and said I'm done with this. I just said "No"."

Discussed in this Episode...

The importance of having a vision of what needs to happen for your family to have success!

If you’re saying you want to make $10,000 a month, what is that number bringing you? What is that life going to look like with that number? We all don’t have to make the same income. We all don’t need the same things. But I love it when we start focusing on was we each need to do to support our ideal lives. Know what your base minimum is, and also your “dream life” number.

What are some things that indicate you are heading down the slope into burnout?

A big one for Monica is when her boundaries start slipping. One of the things that business has taught her is to maintain strict boundaries for everything from family, to work, to self-care. When she notices things starting to slip, maybe people ending up on her calendar in times that she wants to have blocked off, she begins to feel overwhelmed.

What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out, about setting boundaries?

Open communication is so vital in that situation! When you are a mom you’re in a tough spot; because if you’re there, if you’re present, then you’re supposed to be “on”. The questions come for you, the kids come for you, and all that does is frustrate you and everyone. You can’t really be productive when you’re constantly in this dual mode of flipping back and forth between work and being mom. Boundaries must be established with your partner and with your kids about what is appropriate, at what times. We see a lot of moms feeling shame over setting these kinds of boundaries with their children. We hear “I don’t want them to think I’m neglecting them”. There is no shame in that Mama! You are empowering them by showing them an example of a woman who can focus on something, and build something, and still be a great mom!

A few more things we discuss:

  • – Why Mom guilt needs to go away
    – Dividing roles between yourself and your partner
    – Finding the organizational system that works for you
    – Encouragement for Mamas who are just starting out and in the thick of it all
