Ep. 64 Are You in a Fixed or Growth Mindset

Why a Growth Mindset Makes all the Difference!

Hey BRILLIANT mamas!

As moms and entrepreneurs, it’s very rare that things will go entirely as planned! And how we approach the unpredictable and the unplanned has the power to completely change our life. Sometimes, those things that go “wrong” could bring the business breakthrough you’ve been waiting for! Today we’re diving into the difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset, and how having the right one could be the key to a life of abundance!

"I just needed to change my mindset! I already had everything I needed to connect with my audience, to inspire, to create, to connect with people and to create income. I already had all of that right in front of me. But because my mindset was so fixed I couldn't do it. As soon as I changed my mindset, boom, the doors opened!"

Discussed in this Episode...

What is the difference in a fixed mindset and a growth mindset?

A fixed mindset is something that is set in stone. It is when you’re holding onto an idea tightly and there’s no wiggle-room. There is no room to do anything different than what your expectations are. It’s permanent and non-negotiable.

A growth mindset is like having your hand open. You’re open to whatever comes. It allows ideas to grow and evolve, to move within the space you’ve created.

What does this look like in real-life examples?

We all make mistakes in life and in business. It’s impossible not to and part of being human! So, when you make a mistake, what is your mindset around it?

If you’re in a fixed mindset, you hate mistakes. You feel terrible. You try to avoid them. You’re frustrated by them. You feel defeated by them because things must happen in a certain way in order for you to feel good or count it as a win. In a fixed mindset you beat yourself up, because it doesn’t look perfect. Mistakes become ugly, negative and derail you.

Now, if we flip it around and have a growth mindset, you will treat all of your mistakes and your failures as exciting. You’ll actually treat them as learning opportunities! Sure, we’re not trying to make mistakes, but you’ll see them as opportunities to grow and take that next step. It’s a learning opportunity and can lead to even better things!

My Challenge to You!

Are you stuck in a fixed mindset about something for your business, or your mom life? If you’re holding on too tightly to an idea, or saying “it must look like this”, “I must have these results,” or “it must follow this timeline”, you are literally stopping yourself in your tracks. You’re setting yourself up for frustration, anxiety, and giving up. You’re at risk of letting imposter syndrome come in because things don’t look exactly a certain way.

What would happen if today you made the decision to flip over to a growth mindset?! What if you opened up your hand? What if you opened up your mind? What if you opened up your expectations and said “however things happen for me, whatever steps I take that are unique, or the pace that I go, all of that is okay”. It is part of you journey! And in fact, it is magical and amazing, and will show you that you have everything you need to take the next step.

So this is my challenge to you! Do a check in. Ask yourself, “am I in a fixed mindset today? Or am I in a growth mindset? And what can I change to get out of that fixed mindset and into a good day?” Because I promise you, that growth mindset powerful! It is impactful. And it will be game changing for you!
